AboveWealth.org exists to solve wealth inequality through voluntary action rather than government intervention. We believe that the ultra wealthy should calculate their Number — the net worth that pays for their ideal lifestyle — and voluntarily give away wealth beyond that amount to those who need it most.
The Problem
Wealth inequality is reaching a tipping point. The richest people in the world have more wealth than they can spend in multiple lifetimes, while billions struggle to meet basic needs. Ordinary people increasingly see the system as unfair, and their anger is rising. Conventional wisdom insists that the government should step in to solve the problem, but the wealth gap has been widening for decades and politicians have done nothing. Worse still, the loudest voices on the issue have vilified business leaders and cast themselves as the enemies of the wealthy class. Is it any wonder that wealthy people aren't listening to them?
The Solution
We need to affect a broad shift in the cultural values and norms around wealth and generosity. Our message needs to come from a place of open-mindedness and respect, not rancor and hostility. When more people aspire to generosity than accumulation, we can build a happier and more stable society.
